Ok so August already got off to a good start, we decided to bite the bullet and enter Blue into his First BE for 2 years! We entered Bicton for the end of the month. In between the run up to Bicton we sold both Percy and Winky, Percy went to a lovely home not too far away doing what he does best dressage and Winky went to a very local home for a young boy to bring on further.
Bicton was the next stop after all these sales, and in the run up Blue managed to loose a shoe 5 days before the event! We had been preparing with gallops and SJ lessons with our new trainer Alex Peternell and long nights spent schooling.
Bicton was a bit further down than we first thought and we arrived with not much time to spare, however for his first test Blue performed a very good test to finish in the 30's. Next came the SJ and with the tips from Alex fresh in my mind I rode a positive round clear, next came the very exciting XC. We all know this is Blue's favourite phase spinning and rearing before the start so I was pretty worried having been away for two years, we used our quick fixes from equine premium and he started as quiet as a lamb! We stormed round the XC for a clear, and I was so overwhelmed I cryed, pathetic I know but two years ago we thought that was the last of his competitive career.
We finished 11th with 4 time pens XC for going to fast, I was sure i'd gone too slow! We now head to Monmouth with both the boys and now with a quiet yard we may look for a pony project through the winter, may this success continue!
